I’m writing here as Hepzibah Foxclaw, a German resident of Second Life.

Several years ago the big hype about Second Life began in my personal environment. But I couldnt realize why I should join this; my first life claimed my full attention at that moment. So I lost track of the virtual world until it came across again in an article I read a while ago in an online journal. Meanwhile I heard some rumors here and there starting from the discvery of the Holy Grail in virtual business area to loss of members in the amount of thousends.

But apparently there’s life in the old dog yet. By the end of 2009 I read again an interesting article about Second Life, and because my first life had broken new ground I began investigating more intensely on SL. So I found some very dedicated blogs written by SL residents, especially the fashionistas.

It probably was this moment that captured my full attention. I’ve always been a shopaholic and fashion victim myself, so what could be more than creating my first avatar and explore the fashion shops in SL?

During my first days I met some very nice female residents in-world who helped me with useful hints about the huge possibilities of this new world. On my way from total newbie to the prospective fashionista it made me think that writing about my experiences and shopping trips could be a nice idea. Perhaps it can be a help for other interested individuals with their first encounter with SL.
